Losing out on playing time
Johnston is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Pirates.
Análisis
Johnston appears to be fading into a part-time role, heading to the bench for the third time in four games with all those absences coming against right-handed pitchers. The downturn in playing time comes even though Johnston has had a productive June with a .308/.397/.481 slash line over 15 games.

Sitting out second straight
Johnston is absent from the lineup for Friday's contest versus the Pirates.
Análisis
It's the second straight game that the left-handed hitter has been out of the lineup against a righty hurler, which is curious given that he's slashing .350/.416/.483 against righties this season. Jake McCarthy and Tyler Freeman will occupy the corner outfield spots for the Rockies, and Sterlin Thompson will be the designated hitter while Johnston remains absent from the starting nine.

Out of lineup against righty
Johnston is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Cubs.
Análisis
It's the first time since mid-April that the left-handed-hitting Johnston is not in the lineup against a right-hander (in this case, Javier Assad). Jake McCarthy and Tyler Freeman will fill the corner outfield spots for the Rockies in the series finale.

Bowing out of starting nine
Johnston is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Cubs.
Análisis
After going 2-for-5 with a home run, a double, a walk, four RBI and three runs in Sunday's 23-9 win while lefty Jeffrey Springs started for the Athletics, the left-handed-hitting Johnston will head to the bench for Monday's matchup with southpaw Shota Imanaga. Johnston will give up his spot in the lineup to Jake McCarthy (illness), who will return to the starting nine after sitting in the past five games.
