Set to begin rehab assignment

Langeliers (oblique) will begin a minor-league rehab assignment with Triple-A Las Vegas on Wednesday, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Análisis

Langeliers has been out since June 6 while recovering from a left oblique strain, but he appears to be on the cusp of a return to action. The catcher is already eligible to be activated from the 10-day injured list, so he will likely require only a few days with Las Vegas. Prior to going down with the injury, Langeliers had recorded at least one hit in six of his last eight games, compiling four doubles, a home run, two RBI and two runs scored over that stretch.

Progressing in recovery

Langeliers (oblique) participated in batting practice Saturday, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Análisis

Langeliers landed on the 10-day injured list in early June due to a left oblique strain, but he has progressed enough in his recovery to resume swinging a bat. Whether Langeliers will need to embark on a rehab assignment will largely depend on how his oblique reacts to increased work. He was slashing .237/.300/.430 with four steals, 10 doubles, 10 home runs and 27 RBI in 230 plate appearances prior to his injury.
