Ready for rehab assignment

Palacios (knee) was sent to the rookie-level Florida Complex League on Tuesday to begin a rehab assignment, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Análisis

Palacios has been cleared to play in games after going through various baseball activities. The utility player has been limited to only one game this season, first because of a fractured finger and more recently due to a sprained right knee. Because he last played a game on April 17, Palacios will likely require a good number of rehab contests before being activated from the 10-day injured list.

Running bases, playing defense

The Rays announced last Tuesday that Palacios (knee) is progressing in his recovery and has been running the bases and taking part in defensive drills, MLB.com reports.

Análisis

A right knee sprain forced Palacios to the injured list April 18 for the second time this season, after the infielder/outfielder previously opened the campaign on the shelf while recovering from a broken right ring finger. Palacios will eventually need to complete a minor-league rehab assignment before the Rays bring him back from the 10-day injured list.
