Hits game-winning homer Sunday
Devers went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk in Sunday's 3-1 win over the Royals.
Análisis
Devers broke a 1-1 tie with a two-run homer that traveled 440 feet in the sixth inning. Despite the drama surrounding the 28-year-old in recent days, he's gone 17-for-37 with four extra-base hits and 12 RBI through 10 games in May. On the season, he's slashing .280/.398/.490 with seven home runs, 31 RBI, 25 runs scored and a steal across 191 plate appearances.

Perfect from plate vs. KC
Devers went 4-for-4 with three RBI, one walk and a run scored in Saturday's 10-1 win over the Royals.
Análisis
Devers put the Red Sox on the board in the third inning with an RBI double, and he proceeded to crack RBI singles in the fifth and eighth. It was the second time this season that Devers tallied four hits, and he has recorded at least one hit in seven of his last nine games, going 14-for-34 (.412) with one stolen base, two runs scored, one home run and 10 RBI over that span.

Declines to play first base
Devers told reporters Thursday that he declined a request from team management to play first base, Ken Powtak of MLB.com reports. "They had the conversation with me," Devers said through team interpreter Daveson Perez. "I don't think, for me personally, it's the best decision after they asked me to play a different position."
Análisis
Alex Cora had previously indicated he wasn't even going to ask Devers if he would be willing to move from DH -- a new position for the former third baseman -- to first base, and instead the manager allowed Red Sox chief baseball officer Craig Breslow to play bad cop with the request. After a slow start to the season, Devers' bat has locked in since late April. He's 18-for-47 with four home runs, four doubles, 11 RBI and eight runs scored over the last 12 games. Devers' insistence on not switching positions again mid-season leaves Boston without a clear starter at first base in the wake of a season-ending knee injury to Triston Casas.

Not being considered for first base
Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Tuesday that he has not had a conversation with Devers about playing first base with Triston Casas (knee) out and doesn't plan to, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports.
Análisis
While Devers hasn't started a game at a position other than third base in pro ball, he would appear best suited of all of Boston's internal options to handle first base following Casas' season-ending knee injury. However, Cora plans to stick with Devers as his designated hitter and use a combination of Romy Gonzalez and Abraham Toro at first base for the time being.
