Halpin will start in center field and bat ninth in Sunday's game against the Rays.

The recent return of Angel Martinez from the injured list has yet to cost Halpin playing time, as the 24-year-old will draw an eighth consecutive start Sunday. Halpin turned some heads with a two-homer performance in a July 20 win over the Twins, but he's cooled off since then with just one hit in 16 at-bats over his subsequent five starts.

Smacks first major-league homers
Halpin went 3-for-5 with a double, two home runs, three RBI and an additional run scored during Monday's 13-4 win over Minnesota.

It took 40 major-league games, but Halpin finally went yard for the first time in his career Monday. In fact, he was responsible for two of the Guardians' six homers off right-hander Joe Ryan in a blowout win. Halpin has seen a steady amount of reps in the outfield since rejoining the big club prior to the All-Star break, but he could be sent back down to Triple-A Columbus once Angel Martinez (foot) is reinstated from the 10-day injured list.

He appears to have a grip on a strong-side platoon role in the Cleveland outfield for the time being, though Halpin will be at risk of a move to the bench or a demotion to Triple-A Columbus once Angel Martinez (foot) returns from the 10-day injured list.
