Idle against southpaw
Jones is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Royals.

With southpaw Cole Ragans taking the hill for Kansas City, Jones will exit the lineup for the second time in the series. The Guardians will deploy a starting outfield of Steven Kwan, Angel Martinez and Jhonkensy Noel from left to right.

Jones remained in center field as the replacement for the injured Lane Thomas (wrist). His seventh-inning single ended an 0-for-15 slump, and the steal was his first of the year against one caught stealing. Jones, who is slashing .133/.278/.200, had been platooning with Jhonkensy Noel (.160/.214/.160) in right field prior to Thomas' injury.

Jones returned to the starting lineup Tuesday and went 0-for-2 with two walks and an RBI in a win over the White Sox.

Jones literally walked off the White Sox with a bases-loaded walk that pushed in the lone run of the game. He's shared right field with righty-swinging Jhonkensy Noel, who started Sunday against a lefty. Neither player has done much at the dish, which could eventually result in a change. Jones is 3-for-24 (.125) with 10 strikeouts over 24 at-bats, while Noel is batting .059 (1-for-17).
