Sidelined by sprained hand
The Cubs placed Shaw on the 10-day injured list Monday due to a sprained left hand, Jesse Rogers of ESPN.com reports.
Análisis
Shaw injured his hand during Sunday's win over the Brewers. The sprain is considered mild, and manager Craig Counsell believes Shaw could return from the IL when first eligible June 9, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports. That said, with the All-Star break looming, any sort of hiccup would delay Shaw's return until the second half. With Shaw sidelined, Michael Conforto will start in right field Monday versus the Padres and is set to serve as the Cubs' primary option at the position against right-handed pitching.

Dealing with wrist soreness
Shaw was removed from Sunday's 4-3 extra-inning win over the Brewers in the ninth inning as a result of wrist soreness, Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network reports.
Análisis
Shaw opened the game on the bench as the Cubs opted to go with Michael Conforto in right field Sunday. Shaw entered the contest as a pinch hitter in place of Conforto in the top of the seventh frame, drawing a walk in his only at-bat of the day. When Shaw's next turn at the plate arrived in the ninth inning, Justin Dean batted in his place. The 24-year-old Shaw can be considered day-to-day with the wrist discomfort ahead of Monday's series opener against the Padres at home.

Hitting bench for early game
Shaw is out of the lineup for the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader with the Mets.
Análisis
He'll take a seat for the first game of the day, giving way to Michael Conforto in right field. With Seiya Suzuki having thus far been limited to designated-hitter duties since returning to the lineup after a brief absence due to knee discomfort, Shaw had occupied right field in each of the last six games, going 7-for-24 (.292 average) with one home run, two triples, two walks, seven RBI and seven runs during that span.
