Fans six in quality start

Freeland didn't factor into the decision Thursday against the Astros, allowing three runs on eight hits and no walks in six innings. He struck out six.

Análisis

The quality start was Freeland's 11th of the season, and he also fanned at least six for the fifth time this year. It was also the veteran southpaw's first outing with no free passes since July 30 in Cleveland. Freeland's next appearance is slated for next week at hitter-friendly Coors Field against the division-rival Giants, which means fantasy managers might want to search elsewhere for potential streaming options. Through his 11 appearances at home in 2025, Freeland has a miserable 6.36 ERA, 1.85 WHIP and 41:18 K:BB.

Allows two homers in loss

Freeland (3-13) took the loss against the Pirates on Saturday, allowing five runs on seven hits and three walks over five innings.

Análisis

Freeland was hurt by the long ball, giving up two-run homers in both the second and third innings. The veteran southpaw generated just four swinging strikes on 94 pitches and has now allowed at least five earned runs in seven of 24 starts this year. He'll carry a 5.31 ERA, 1.52 WHIP and 91:34 K:BB across 125.1 innings into a home matchup with the Cubs next weekend.

Cleared to start Saturday

Freeland (finger) is slated to start Saturday's game against the Pirates at PNC Park.

Análisis

Freeland developed a blister on his pitching hand during his most recent outing in Monday's 4-3 win over the Dodgers, but it apparently didn't prevent him from completing his between-starts bullpen session. He'll return to the mound on his standard four days' rest and shouldn't face any restrictions as he takes the hill for his 24th start of the season.
