Goes three innings in return
Cannon didn't factor into the decision Sunday against the Giants, allowing one run on three hits and three walks over three innings. He struck out four.
Análisis
A lower-back strain kept Cannon on the shelf for over three weeks, and the 24-year-old was on a pitch count Sunday in his first start back. He threw just 69 pitches. Cannon has struggled with control this season, having walked three or more batters in six of his 13 appearances. He'll take a 4.59 ERA and a 55:24 K:BB through 66.2 innings into his next start, which is scheduled to come next weekend at Coors Field.

Reinstated for Sunday's start
The White Sox activated Cannon (back) from the 15-day injured list ahead of his start Sunday against the Giants.
Análisis
The right-hander has been sidelined most of June due to a lower-back strain, but he's ready to rejoin Chicago's rotation after one rehab game. Cannon threw 48 pitches over three scoreless innings with Triple-A Charlotte on Tuesday, so he's likely to have some workload limitations in his first couple starts back with the White Sox.

Sunday start confirmed
Manager Will Venable said after Saturday's game that Cannon (back) will start for the White Sox on Sunday against the Giants, Jack Ankony of SI.com reports.
Análisis
Venable said pregame that Cannon could potentially start Sunday's game, but the skipper left no doubt in the matter with his postgame comments. It'll be Cannon's first MLB appearance since being placed on the 15-day injured list June 3 due to a lower-back strain. The 24-year-old made one rehab start, throwing three scoreless innings with Triple-A Charlotte on Tuesday. Cannon threw 48 pitches in the outing, so some sort of pitch limit should be expected.

Could start Sunday vs. Giants
White Sox manager Will Venable said Saturday that Cannon (back) could return from his rehab assignment and start as soon as Sunday against the Giants, Bruce Levine of 670TheScore.com reports.
Análisis
Cannon landed on the 15-day injured list in early June due to a lower-back strain. He was cleared to make a rehab start with Triple-A Charlotte, and in his lone outing Tuesday he allowed one hit and one walk while striking out two across three scoreless innings. Cannon went 2-7 in 12 games (10 starts) with a 4.66 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 51:21 K:BB across 63.2 innings prior to his stint on the IL.
