Held out of starting nine Wednesday
Heim is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Tigers.
Análisis
Shea Langeliers is making a second straight start behind the dish after a two-game absence due to a thumb injury, and Tyler Soderstrom (hip) is serving as the Athletics' designated hitter in his return from the injured list. The 31-year-old Heim is on the bench for just the second time in 12 games, as he's played his way into a near-everyday role while producing an .816 OPS since the Athletics acquired him in early May. Soderstrom should eventually shift back into a regular role in left field, so Heim still looks to have a fairly clear path to steady playing time at DH.

Homer, six RBI in loss
Heim went 2-for-4 with a grand slam and two additional RBI in Sunday's 9-8 loss to the Marlins.
Análisis
Considering the Athletics didn't have a baserunner until the eighth inning, Heim did pretty well for himself in the late innings. The 31-year-old has gone 9-for-38 (.237) with three homers and 12 RBI over his last 10 games. He's now batting .241 with a .790 OPS, nine homers, 29 RBI, 20 runs scored, nine doubles and no stolen bases over 46 contests between the Athletics and Atlanta this season. While he was the designated hitter Sunday, Heim would likely get the starting job behind the dish if Shea Langeliers (thumb) requires a stint on the injured list.

Absent from Friday's lineup
Heim is not in the Athletics' starting lineup against the Marlins on Friday.
Análisis
With right-hander Tyler Phillips on the mound for the Marlins on Friday, the Athletics will respond by deploying the lefty-hitting Carlos Cortes as the designated hitter. Heim has gone 7-for-27 (.259) with two home runs, six RBI and five runs scored over his last seven games, reaching base safely in six of those contests.
