Melts down in fifth inning Friday
Luzardo (1-2) took the loss Friday as the Phillies fell 5-4 to the Diamondbacks, coughing up five runs on five hits and three walks over 4.2 innings. He struck out eight.
Análisis
The southpaw has a no-hitter going through four innings, but the wheels came off quickly for Luzardo in the fifth after a leadoff single by Jose Fernandez. His tendency to lose focus in key moments continues to hold Luzardo back despite his obvious talent -- he has a 1.15 WHIP and 26:4 K:BB in 17.1 innings through three starts to begin the season, but somehow that's led to a 6.23 ERA. He'll try to rebound in his next outing, which lines up to come at home next week against the Cubs.

Fans 11 in victory
Luzardo (1-1) earned the win over Colorado on Saturday, allowing one run on five hits and no walks while striking out 11 batters over 6.2 innings.
Análisis
Luzardo was roughed up for six runs across six frames in his season debut against the Rangers last Sunday, but he turned things around impressively against the Rockies. The left-hander not only limited Colorado to one run, but he also racked up a whopping 23 swinging strikes en route to 11 punchouts. Luzardo had seven double-digit strikeout games and a career-high 216 punchouts during the regular season last year, so he certainly has the ability to mow batters down when he's on his game. He's slated to make his next start at home against Arizona.
