Decent despite loss
Klassen (2-2) took the loss against Cleveland on Monday, allowing three runs (two earned) on six hits and three walks while striking out three batters over 5.1 innings.

Klassen didn't have good control, as he threw only 54 of 90 pitches for strikes and walked three batters. Nonetheless, he kept the Angels in the game by holding the Guardians without an extra-base hit while falling two outs shy of a quality start. Klassen began his MLB career in poor fashion by giving up six earned runs over 4.2 frames across his first two appearances, but he's been much better since, yielding only five earned runs in his past four outings spanning 22.1 innings. That's brought his season ERA down to a respectable 3.67, but the right-hander still has a poor 1.63 WHIP and an ominous 24:21 K:BB across 27 innings overall. Klassen will almost certainly need to bring his walk rate down to experience prolonged MLB success, and he'll look to show growth in that area in his next start, which is tentatively scheduled to be a home matchup against the Yankees.

Sharp again in win
Klassen (2-1) allowed one hit and three walks while striking out seven over seven scoreless innings to earn the win over the Astros on Tuesday.

Klassen put together a strong and efficient performance, getting through the seven frames on 86 pitches (54 strikes). He's allowed just three runs across 17 innings over three starts since he entered the Angels' rotation earlier in August. On the year, he's at a 3.74 ERA, 1.62 WHIP and 21:18 K:BB through 21.2 innings. He's still walking too many batters generally, which invites the risk of regression. Klassen will look to keep his strong performances rolling on the road versus the Rangers over the weekend, assuming he stays in the rotation over Ryan Johnson when Yusei Kikuchi (shoulder) is activated from the 60-day injured list.
