Earns another save
Alvarado allowed a hit and a walk while striking out one over a scoreless inning to earn the save in Wednesday's 7-4 win over the Twins.
Análisis
Alvarado has earned a save in three straight outings, including each of the past two days. Hogan Harris had looked to be pulling away with the closer job earlier in the month, and he'll likely remain in the mix for high-leverage work despite not being utilized Wednesday. However, Alvarado has the momentum, especially since he's given up just two runs over 11 innings in August. Alvarado is at a 4.09 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 53:20 K:BB through 44 innings this season, and he's added five saves, eight holds and one blown save.

Secures fourth save
Alvarado struck out a batter during a perfect ninth inning to earn the save in Tuesday's 4-2 win over the Twins.
Análisis
Alvarado was tasked with protecting a two-run advantage and needed just seven pitches to retire Minnesota in order, closing out the victory for his fourth save of the season. The right-hander has increasingly worked in high-leverage situations and has converted his two save chances since the beginning of August. Alvarado still owns a 4.19 ERA, but his growing presence in the late innings gives him considerably more fantasy relevance than he carried earlier in the campaign. He has allowed runs in just one of his 12 relief appearances this month.

Nails down third save
Alvarado struck out two in a clean ninth inning to earn the save Saturday against the Astros.
Análisis
It's worth noting that Hogan Harris, who has been the Athletics' top option for saves of late, worked a scoreless eighth inning for a hold Saturday. The A's have had a hard time settling on a steady ninth-inning arm in their beleaguered bullpen, and it wouldn't be surprising if they continue to mix and match their high-leverage options. Alvarado has a 4.29 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 51:19 K:BB over 42 innings, tallying eight holds and three saves in four opportunities.
