Survives early scare in third win
Peterson (3-4) notched the win Thursday against the Nationals, allowing one run on four hits and three walks in five innings. He struck out three.

Peterson weathered an early storm Thursday, stranding the bases loaded during the opening frame, and it was mostly smooth sailing thereafter. The 30-year-old southpaw has been erratic overall for the Mets this season, giving up at least four runs on four occasions, but he's yielded two or fewer runs in four consecutive outings during the month of May. Peterson will try to further improve on his 5.03 ERA, 1.55 WHIP and 49:20 K:BB over 48.1 innings in his next scheduled appearance against the Reds.

Secures win in bulk-relief outing
Peterson (2-4) allowed two runs on six hits, three walks and a hit batsman while striking out eight over four innings to earn the win Saturday versus the Yankees.

This was Peterson's third consecutive bulk-relief appearance, a span that has seen him earn his first two wins of the season. In his three outings in May, he's allowed seven runs (four earned) with a 17:3 K:BB over 13 innings. Overall, he has a 5.40 ERA, 1.57 WHIP and 46:17 K:BB through 43.1 innings. Peterson's looked more effective working behind an opener, so that trend could continue for his next projected outing, which lines up to be on the road against the Nationals.

Working in bulk behind Brazoban
Peterson is slated to pitch in bulk relief behind opener Huascar Brazoban during Saturday's game against the Yankees at Citi Field, Abbey Mastracco of the New York Daily News reports.
Análisis
Peterson will work out of the bullpen for the fifth time in six appearances and for the third time in a row behind the right-handed Brazoban, who will likely work an inning or two before giving way to the lefty. The Mets have gotten far better results from Peterson while using him in relief this season and will likely continue to use him out of the bullpen when his future turns in the rotation come up. Peterson has posted an 8.10 ERA, 1.89 WHIP and 11.2 K-BB% across 23.1 innings in five starts and a 1.69 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 16.9 K-BB% across 16 innings in four relief appearances.
