Blanks Jays in no-decision
Basso didn't factor into the decision in Wednesday's 2-0 win over the Blue Jays, allowing three hits and two walks over four scoreless innings. He struck out four.
Análisis
In his longest outing of the season, Basso fired 41 of 68 pitches for strikes as he got the combined shutout going. The southpaw appears to be getting stretched out to fill the fifth starter role for the A's, and over three September appearances he's dialed up a 1.93 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 6:3 K:BB in 9.1 innings. Basso will look to last long enough to qualify for a win in his next trip to the mound, which is set to come on the road next week in Tampa Bay.

Drawing start Wednesday
Basso is slated to start Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays.
Análisis
Basso has operated as more of an opening pitcher in his prior four starts this season, but the Athletics could have him stretch out a bit more Wednesday. In his most recent relief appearance in Saturday's 7-6 win over the Mariners, Basso tossed 38 pitches over three shutout innings. Joey Estes is the freshest arm in the Athletics bullpen and should be available to cover multiple frames once Basso exits the contest.

Análisis
After starter Kade Morris struggled across 2.2 innings, Basso stepped up and twirled three scoreless frames to pick up his first win of the campaign. The southpaw has shuttled between Triple-A Las Vegas and the big leagues throughout 2026, posting a 4.32 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 24:5 K:BB across 33.1 innings with the Athletics.
