Getting rest Friday
Martinez isn't in the lineup for Friday's game against the Athletics.
Análisis
Martinez will get a breather after making six consecutive starts and going 6-for-24 with two homers, five RBI and a steal in that span. His absence will allow Chase DeLauter to start in right field while Rhys Hoskins serves as Cleveland's designated hitter.

Playing time trending back up
Martinez will start in left field and bat sixth in Wednesday's game against the Rays, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports.
Análisis
Martinez appeared to be moving into more of a part-time role following a week-long stretch from April 15 through 22 in which he went just 3-for-19 at the dish, but he's since settled back in as an everyday player for the Guardians. The switch-hitting outfielder will stick in the lineup for a sixth straight contest after producing two home runs and two doubles and chipping in a stolen base over his previous five starts.

Bats leadoff
Martinez hit atop the order and went 1-for-4 in Saturday's 5-3 loss to Toronto.
Análisis
Martinez was originally slated to bat fifth and play left field, but he was moved to center field and batted leadoff when Steven Kwan (neck) was scratched from the lineup. Martinez's stock has risen dramatically early in 2026, as he's slashing .282/.325/.526 with five home runs, 14 RBI, five steals and 12 runs over 25 games.

Goes yard twice in win
Martinez went 2-for-4 with two home runs and four RBI in Friday's 8-6 win over the Blue Jays.
Análisis
Playing in the ballpark that his father Sandy called home for the first three seasons of his own big-league career in the mid-90s, Martinez took future Hall of Famer Max Scherzer deep in the first and third innings for a pair of two-run shots. Martinez has seen his playing time decrease since George Valera came off the IL, but with three homers in his last two starts, the 24-year-old switch hitter is making a case to be a regular for the Guardians. On the season, Martinez is slashing .284/.329/.541 with five home runs, four steals, 12 runs and 14 RBI in 80 plate appearances.
