Undergoing MRI Thursday
Young (knee) will undergo an MRI on Thursday to determine the severity of his injury, NBA reporter Chris Haynes reports.
Analyse
Mouhamed Gueye fell into the side of Young's right leg during Wednesday's game against Brooklyn, and the star guard was quickly ruled out for the rest of the way. The injury was deemed a right knee sprain, but the Hawks will have Young undergo further testing to determine its severity. Head coach Quin Snyder said postgame that Young's injury isn't an ACL issue, but more clarity should be provided following the MRI. Atlanta's next game is Friday against Indiana.

Won't return Wednesday
Young will not return to Wednesday's game against the Nets due to a right knee sprain.
Analyse
Mouhamed Gueye fell hard into the side of Young's leg, making his right knee bend awkwardly, and Young was in some clear discomfort after the injury. The good news is that he was able to get off the court under his own power, and the team is currently calling it a "sprain," so it appears he has avoided something more serious. Still, this could be something that causes him to miss multiple games, and he'd leave a massive void to fill on offense. Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Luke Kennard would likely split most of his minutes, while the playmaking and shots will be divvied up amongst Jalen Johnson, Dyson Daniels and Kristaps Porzingis.

Heads to locker room
Young went back to the locker room during Wednesday's game against Brooklyn with an apparent leg injury, Lauren L. Williams of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Analyse
Mouhamed Gueye fell into the back of Young's leg, and after briefly trying to play through the injury, Young left the game and went into the locker room. While he's out, Luke Kennard, Keaton Wallace and Nickeil Alexander-Walker could see more action.

Hands out season-high 17 dimes
Young contributed 21 points (7-22 FG, 1-10 3Pt, 6-7 FT), three rebounds and 17 assists across 34 minutes during Monday's 128-123 loss to Chicago.
Analyse
Young's 17 assists Monday night accounted for the most anyone has handed out so far this season, and despite only distributing nine total dimes through the first two games of the year, Young has now surpassed Nikola Jokic for the assist crown with 38 on the season. Sure, he's still struggling from distance, converting just 19.2 percent of his three-point attempts, but there's no way that will hold for the career, 35.2 percent three-point shooter. It's been a slow start, but he's showing signs of life.

First double-double of season
Young registered 15 points (5-12 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 3-4 FT), 10 assists and four rebounds over 30 minutes during the Hawks' 117-100 loss to the Thunder on Saturday.
Analyse
Young's 15 points were a season low, but he still finished as the Hawks' second-leading scorer behind Nickeil Alexander-Walker (17), and the former led both teams with 10 dimes en route to his first double-double of the year. Young has opened the 2025-26 regular season connecting on just 38.6 percent of his field-goal attempts while averaging 20.7 points, 7.0 assists, 2.0 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 1.3 three-pointers over 32.7 minutes per game.

Scores 25 points with six assists
Young recorded 25 points (7-18 FG, 1-6 3Pt, 10-12 FT), six assists, one rebound, two steals, one block and one turnover in 34 minutes during Friday's 111-107 win over the Magic.
Analyse
Young has gotten off to a slow start this season with back-to-back, single-digit assist outings, and he's also been struggling from beyond the arc. Through the first two games, he's converted just two of his 13 three-point attempts, and he's simply looked out of sync with his teammates. He should figure it out soon enough, but with another tough matchup against the Thunder on Saturday, it won't be easy for him to snap out of the funk.
