Could miss remainder of season
Steer (wrist) may not return before the end of the season, Patrick Brown of MLB.com reports.
Analyse
Steer had a follow-up visit with an orthopedic surgeon Friday. He has not yet been recommended for surgery, and the preferred path going forward is to avoid that if possible. "It still obviously is a problem," Steer said Friday. "I'm just trying to do everything I can to let the body heal, and then see what we've got in a couple of weeks." Steer is focusing on lower-body work for now, but given where the Reds sit in the standings and their chances of making the playoffs, the most prudent course of action is to not rush him back.

Follow-up exam on wrist this weekend
Steer will have a follow-up exam on his injured right wrist this weekend, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox 19 Now Cincinnati reports.
Analyse
Recovering from a partial tear of the tendon sheath in his wrist, Steer could be cleared to ramp up baseball activities if he receives good news during his exam. He remains without a clear timeline to return from the 10-day injured list, but more clarity on that front should come after this weekend.
