Next start on mound coming Monday
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Thursday that Ohtani's (illness) next start as a pitcher will come Monday at home against the Rockies, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
Analyse
Ohtani was scratched from a scheduled outing Wednesday in Pittsburgh because he was under the weather, and he won't return to the bump until Monday. The 31-year-old will continue to hit until then, as he is in his usual designated hitter and leadoff spots for Thursday's contest against the Pirates.

Should pitch this weekend
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said that Ohtani was scratched from his scheduled start as a pitcher Wednesday in Pittsburgh after feeling "under the weather," but the skipper is hopeful the two-way player will be ready to return to the mound "sometime this weekend" in Baltimore, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
Analyse
Roberts noted that because of a cough and congestion, Ohtani had to cut his recent between-starts bullpen session short, so the Dodgers opted to have Emmet Sheehan take the hill for Wednesday's contest. Ohtani doesn't feel that the illness will compromise him at the plate, however, so the Dodgers will include him in the lineup Wednesday at designated hitter and the leadoff spot. The Dodgers should have a better idea in a couple days which game of the Baltimore series that Ohtani will make his return to the mound.

Not pitching, still DHing Wednesday
Ohtani is no longer listed as the Dodgers' starting pitcher for Wednesday's game against the Pirates, but he'll serve as the team's designated hitter and will bat leadoff, Kirsten Watson of Spectrum SportsNet LA reports.
Analyse
The Dodgers haven't provided an explanation for why Ohtani is no longer in line to pitch, but if he's dealing with an undisclosed injury, it's evidently not anything the team believes will affect him while swinging the bat or running the bases. Emmet Sheehan will end up starting on the mound in Ohtani's stead. Expect manager Dave Roberts to shed more light on the situation and provide word on when Ohtani's next start as a pitcher will come when the skipper addresses the media later Wednesday.

Belts homer No. 100 as Dodger
Ohtani went 3-for-5 with two doubles, a home run and two RBI in Tuesday's 9-7 loss to the Pirates.
Analyse
The Dodgers found themselves staring at a 4-0 deficit after the first inning, but Ohtani did his best to get his team back into it, launching a 99.2 mph fastball from Bubba Chandler down the right-field line for a solo shot in the third inning. It was Ohtani's 46th home run of the season, giving him an even 100 in a Dodgers uniform, and the three-hit performance snapped a 7-for-40 skid (.175) over his prior 11 games.
