Set for another live BP
Fried (elbow) threw a successful 36-pitch live batting practice session Sunday and will face hitters again Thursday or Friday before embarking on a rehab assignment, Jorge Castillo of ESPN.com reports.
Analyse
The veteran left-hander continues to progress in his rehab from a bone bruise in his left elbow, and he's closing in on being cleared for game action. Fried landed on the shelf in mid-May and will likely require at least a couple starts in the minors before potentially rejoining the New York starting rotation in late July.

Live BP on tap
Manager Aarone Boone said Tuesday that Fried (elbow) is scheduled to throw another session of live batting practice Sunday, Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reports.
Analyse
Fried faced live batters Tuesday for the first time since landing on the injured list in mid-May, and he apparently came out of the simulated game with no issues. The left-hander will likely throw a bullpen session within the next few days before ramping up his workload during the live session Sunday. Fried isn't likely to rejoin the Yankees' rotation prior to the All-Star break but could be reinstated before the end of July.

Two-inning sim game on tap
Yankees manager Aaron Boone said that Fried (elbow) will throw a two-inning simulated game Tuesday, David Lennon of Newsday reports.
Analyse
The Yankees are targeting Fried for around 30 pitches while he takes the mound and faces hitters for the first time since landing on the 15-day injured list May 16 due to a left elbow bone bruise. Fried doesn't look like he'll have enough time to get fully stretched out before the All-Star break, but a late-July return from the IL could be in play if he steers clear of any setbacks as he builds up his pitch count via sim games and/or minor-league rehab starts.
