Lands on injured list
The Diamondbacks placed Gurriel on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with a left calf strain, Jesse Friedman of GoPHNX.com reports.
Analyse
Gurriel missed Monday's game after injuring his calf Sunday, and he's now set to miss at least the next 10 days after being diagnosed with a strain. Pavin Smith started in Gurriel's place Monday and may continue to do so while the 30-year-old is sidelined. Meanwhile, Christian Walker (oblique) will return from the IL to fill the open roster spot.

Withheld from lineup
Gurriel (calf) is not in the lineup for Monday's game versus the Dodgers.
Analyse
Gurriel's absence from the lineup isn't surprising after he exited Sunday's game against the Dodgers due to a left calf injury. He could be unavailable to play for a while, but more will be known regarding Gurriel's status after he undergoes imaging on the calf. Pavin Smith will start in left field for the Diamondbacks on Monday.

Exits with injury
Gurriel was removed from Sunday's game against the Dodgers with an apparent leg injury, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports.
Analyse
Gurriel walked gingerly off the field after hitting into a double play during the sixth inning, and he was immediately replaced in left field once the D-backs went on defense to start the seventh. The severity of his injury remains unknown, though any games missed would likely result in increased playing time for Randal Grichuk.
