Goes deep again Tuesday

Butler went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 3-2 win over the Mariners.

Analyse

Butler's lone hit of the night was a first inning solo blast to center off Luis Castillo. That hit made it eight consecutive games with an extra-base hit and he's now rocking a 13-game hit streak during which he's totaled 22 hits, eight home runs, five doubles and 14 RBI. For the year, the 24-year-old is slashing .265/.319/.527 with 21 homers, 54 RBI, 54 runs, 13 steals and a 28:84 BB:K in 364 plate appearances.

Another stellar effort Sunday

Butler went 4-for-5 with a double and a stolen base in an extra-inning loss to the Rangers on Sunday.

Analyse

The red-hot leadoff man kept on wreaking havoc Sunday, posting his fifth multi-hit effort in the last six games and lacing a double for the third straight contest in the process. Butler also extended his hitting streak to 11 games, a stretch where he's now hitting a blistering .435 with 11 extra-base hits, 13 RBI, two walks, three steals and 13 runs across 48 plate appearances.

Belts homer No. 20

Butler went 2-for-4 with a double, a solo home run and a second run scored in Saturday's 3-2 loss to the Rangers.

Analyse

The top two hitters in the Oakland order, Butler and Brent Rooker, accounted for all the team's offense and four of its five hits on the night. Butler heads into September on a 10-game hitting streak during which he's batting .390 (16-for-41), and Saturday's long ball off Cody Bradford gave the 24-year-old six homers in the last five contests, and 20 on the season.

Massive performance in loss

Butler went 3-for-4 with three home runs, a walk and four total RBI in Thursday's 10-9 loss to the Reds.

Analyse

Butler hit a two-run blast in the second inning and added solo shots in the fourth and ninth frames, but his power display was overshadowed by a ninth-inning disaster from Grant Holman. This was Butler's second three-homer game of the season, and he's lifted six long balls while going 13-for-32 (.406) during an eight-game hitting streak. The outfielder is up to a .255/.313/.503 slash line with 19 homers, 51 RBI, 49 runs scored and 12 stolen bases over 100 contests this season. While the Athletics' offense isn't particularly impressive, Butler has done well in the leadoff role versus right-handed pitchers.

29. August 2024

Productive again Wednesday

Butler went 2-for-5 with a home run, two RBI and a stolen base in Wednesday's 9-6 win over the Reds.

Analyse

The 24-year-old led off the game with a solo shot on a Fernando Cruz cutter that drifted over the heart of the plate. It was Butler's 16th homer of the season, while his third-inning steal was his 12th of the year. He extended his current hitting streak to seven games in the process, a stretch in which he's impressively struck out only once while batting .357 (10-for-28).
