Resting Tuesday
Caballero is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Royals.
Analyse
Following his return from the injured list Friday, Caballero started in each of the Yankees' ensuing three games, going 3-for-11 with an RBI. The Yankees are likely to continue deploying Caballero as their primary shortstop, but he'll hit the bench Tuesday while manager Aaron Boone opens up the position for Anthony Volpe.

Activated from IL, starting at SS
The Yankees activated Caballero (finger) from the 10-day injured list Friday.

Caballero missed just 11 days with a fractured right middle finger, and he's back in the lineup at shortstop, hitting seventh, against the Rays on Friday. Anthony Volpe will head to the bench for the Yankees. Caballero has slashed .259/.320/.400 with four home runs, 13 RBI, 18 runs scored, 13 stolen bases and an 8:29 BB:K across 147 plate appearances this season.

Expected to be activated Friday
Caballero (finger) is expected to be activated from the 10-day injured list Friday, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.
Analyse
Caballero is on track to return to action just one day after what would've been a minimum-length stay on the injured list with a right middle finger fracture. The 29-year-old didn't require a minor-league rehab assignment, and he'll likely slot in as New York's everyday shortstop once again moving forward, making Anthony Volpe's role uncertain in the near future. Outfielder Spencer Jones and relief pitcher Yovanny Cruz were optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre after Thursday's 2-0 loss to the Blue Jays, making room for Caballero and starting pitcher Gerrit Cole (elbow) to be reinstated from the injured list Friday.
