Managing soreness ahead of return
Encarnacion (hand), who was sent to Triple-A Sacramento for a rehab assignment May 10, returned to San Francisco on Friday and is set to be re-evaluated after experiencing soreness, per MLB.com.
Analyse
During his rehab assignment, Encarnacion made two appearances with Sacramento, after the 27-year-old fractured his left hand in mid-March. Encarnacion said he feels fine, per Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle, but the Giants will likely be cautious with him, as he isn't eligible to come off the 60-day injured list until May 25 anyway.

Analyse
After fracturing his left hand in mid-March and being placed on the 60-day IL on April 19, Encarnacion drew the starting nod at first base during his first rehab appearance. The 27-year-old could see the bulk of his playing time at first base when he returns to the Giants, according to Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle.
