Stumbles late in loss
King (3-2) took the loss against the White Sox on Saturday, allowing four runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out five over six innings.
Analyse
King opened with five scoreless frames but faltered late, allowing two runs in the sixth and then two more in the seventh without recording an out. The 30-year-old struggled with command, throwing just 52 of 92 pitches for strikes, and he's now issued at least three walks in four of seven outings to open the season. He'll still carry a strong 2.95 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 39:18 K:BB across 39.2 innings into a home matchup against the Cardinals next week.

Strong showing in no-decision
King did not factor into the decision Sunday, allowing two runs on three hits and a walk over six innings against the Diamondbacks. He struck out eight.
Analyse
King was mostly excellent, striking out a season-high eight batters while maintaining strong command, with the only damage coming on solo homers by Jose Fernandez and Ildemaro Vargas in the fifth and sixth innings. A bullpen collapse prevented King from earning his fourth win of the season, but it was another strong outing for the right-hander, who owns a 2.41 ERA and 1.04 WHIP with a 34:15 K:BB across 33.2 innings (six starts). His next start is projected for Saturday against the White Sox.
