Starting Thursday February 6, we’re rolling out a series of updates designed to improve the Sorare experience. From the introduction of a new Daily Competition, to Common Essence and Collections, these changes are all about giving you more tools, more strategy, and more fun.

Let’s dive into the details and explore what’s coming your way 👇

Daily Hoops

Daily Hoops Enhancements

We’re making Daily Hoops even more rewarding! We’re increasing the Limited through Unique Essence rewards pool by 50% for Daily Gameplay. This means more opportunities for Managers to earn valuable rewards while competing in your favorite daily contests! With the addition of Common Essence (read below), we’re also making adjustments to how we reward Common daily competitions.

Introducing Daily Pickup

We’ve been really excited by the level of engagement around daily gameplay, so we’re excited to introduce a second daily competition: Daily Pickup. This Cap 120 + MVP contest will be available across all scarcities, giving Managers even more opportunities to compete and win every day. This will run every day alongside our Daily Hoops competitions.

In Daily Pickup, we will also be directly rewarding Essence to Managers. We want to distinguish strong performances and reward Managers accordingly. Let us know what you think about the direct rewarding of Essence – we’ll be monitoring engagement to see if it can apply to other competitions.

Introducing Common Essence

Common Points are evolving into Common Essence, a brand new approach of determining a player’s Common Card price, designed to reflect the dynamic nature of the Sorare NBA ecosystem. Common Essence introduces a market-driven mechanism that evolves over time, offering a more accurate and responsive representation of a player’s Common Card value.*

At its core, Common Essence is pegged to the market value of Limited cards, ensuring that  players’ Common Cards valuations are not only performance-based, but also influenced by real-time market dynamics.

By aligning Common Cards valuations with the market value of Limited cards, Common Essence provides a more accurate and responsive scoring mechanism. This ensures that Managers have access to a more realistic and up-to-date representation of Card’s worth, enabling smarter roster construction and strategic gameplay.

Key Features of Common Essence
  • Market-Driven Valuation
    • Essence scores are directly tied to the market value of Limited cards. This means that how much Essence a Common Card is worth in the Sorare ecosystem is determined by the actual market demand for their Limited Card, offering a more realistic and transparent valuation system.
  • Real-Time Updates
    • Common Card prices are continuously updated based on the latest Limited prices. This ensures that Common Essence remains dynamic.
  • Scaled Pricing Mechanism
    • The highest-priced player in the Limited market serves as the benchmark, with their Common Essence cost set at 1,000. Every other player’s Essence cost is calculated as a ratio of their Limited card price compared to the most expensive player.
    • Example:
      • If Victor Wembanyama’s Limited Card is the most expensive Limited Card at $200, the cost of this Common Card is set at 1,000 Common Essence. If Jayson Tatum’s Limited card is priced at $100, the cost of his Common Card would be 500 Common Essence, reflecting his card’s market value relative to Wembanyama’s. This pricing mechanism ensures that Common Cards’ valuations are consistent and directly tied to their Limited Cards’ market value.

As part of these changes, we’re taking the following steps to ensure all Managers remain minimally impacted by the valuation changes:

  • Current Common Points balances will be converted to Common Essence 1:5. For every 1 Point, you will receive 5 Common Essence
  • For good measure, we’re airdropping all Managers 150 Common Essence

*Common Cards and Common Essence do not have any real-world value and cannot be traded, bought or sold on the Marketplace.

Introduction of Common Collections

Collections are the cornerstone of Sorare, playing a pivotal role in creating an engaging and rewarding experience for all Managers. Now, Managers can leverage Common Cards to contribute to a dynamic Collection Score that reflects the true strength of their digital gallery.

With Common Collections, we’re bringing the excitement of collection-building to Common Cards. To mirror the Pro Card experience, we are offering Managers new ways to interact with their common cards including building collections, earning points, and achieving milestones!

Our goal is to educate new users by introducing them to the strategic benefits of collection-building while staying true to the mechanics that make the Collection Game so rewarding.

Let’s take a closer look at how it works 👇

How Common Collections Work

Cards are scored based on four criteria:

  • Owned :10 points
    • Earn points simply for owning a card in your collection.
  • Owned for 7 Days: 20 points
    • Earn points if the card has been in your collection for at least 7 days and has not been swapped out during that time.
  • New Card: 10 points
    • Earn points for adding a card to your collection that you’ve never owned before. This includes cards you’ve never added, dropped, or been rewarded with in the past.
  • Rookie Card: 20 points
    • Earn points for adding Rookie cards to your collection!

Each milestone unlocks XP bonus’ or a Team Badge, unlocking a deeper level of fandom for all of your favorite teams!

We’re excited to roll out these changes and look forward to seeing how they enhance your Sorare NBA journey in the coming months!
