I've sent my ETH to my Sorare Wallet but through the wrong network, what can I do?
If you have mistakenly sent ETH to a Layer 2 (L2) network instead of Ethereum L1 (mainnet) on Sorare, don’t worry—your funds may be recovered. While Sorare is not compatible with all L2 networks, many of them are Ethereum-based, meaning the same private key used on Ethereum L1 can also be used on the L2 network where the funds were sent.
Follow these steps to retrieve your ETH and send it back to Ethereum L1:
Step 1: Add the Relevant Network to MetaMask
-
Open the MetaMask Chrome extension.
-
Click on the network dropdown (top center) and select "Add Network."
-
Manually add the relevant L2 network by entering the required details (RPC URL, Chain ID, etc.). You can find this information on the official documentation of the network where your ETH was sent.
Step 2: Import Your Sorare Ethereum Wallet into MetaMask
-
If your Sorare Ethereum wallet is not yet imported into MetaMask, follow these steps:
-
Go to your Sorare wallet.
-
Click on the small gear icon ⚙️.
-
Select Export Private Key and copy the key.
-
In MetaMask, go to Import Account and paste the private key.
-
-
This will allow you to access your L2 wallet, which has the same public/private key as your Sorare Ethereum wallet.
Step 3: Send ETH Back to Your Preferred Wallet or Exchange
-
In MetaMask, switch to the relevant L2 network.
-
Locate your ETH balance.
-
Send the ETH back to your centralized exchange wallet or any other preferred Ethereum L1-compatible address.
Step 4: Transfer ETH from Your Wallet to Sorare Using Ethereum L1
-
Once the ETH is back in your preferred wallet or exchange, initiate a transfer.
-
Ensure you select the Ethereum (L1) network as the destination.
-
This will ensure your funds arrive in the correct network for use on Sorare.
Following these steps will allow you to recover your ETH and move it back to Sorare on Ethereum L1 successfully.
