Out next two games

The 76ers announced Thursday that an MRI of George's left knee revealed no structural damage, but he will be out for Friday's game versus the Nets and Sunday's game against the Clippers, Austin Krell of USA Today reports.

Analysis

George appears to have avoided a serious injury, but he will miss Philadelphia's next two contests with a left knee bone bruise. In his absence, Kelly Oubre and KJ Martin will likely receive increased playing time. George's next chance to return to action will be Wednesday's matchup with Houston.

Remains out Friday

George (knee) won't play in Friday's game versus the Nets.

Analysis

George hyperextended his left knee against Memphis on Wednesday and is now listed as out with a left knee bone bruise. In the star forward's absence, Kelly Oubre and KJ Martin are candidates to receive increased playing time. While there is no official timetable for George's return, his next chance to suit up is Sunday's matchup with the Clippers.

Injures knee, won't return

George has been ruled out for the remainder of Wednesday's game against the Grizzlies due to a left knee hyperextension, Tony Jones of The Athletic reports. He recorded two points (1-6 FG, 0-2 3Pt), four rebounds, two assists and one steal in 17 minutes before exiting the game.

Analysis

George exited the game after landing awkwardly early in the third quarter before the 76ers ruled him out for the remainder of the contest. The 34-year-old missed the first five games of the 2024-25 campaign with a bone bruise in the same knee. Per Jones, George will undergo an MRI on Thursday, when the 76ers will learn more information about the severity of the injury while also having a clearer idea on a timeline for his recovery. His potential absence could open up more minutes on the wing for Eric Gordon, Kelly Oubre, Ricky Council and Jared McCain.

Goes to locker room

George exited Wednesday's game against the Grizzlies with an ankle injury and went back to the locker room, Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Analysis

George has already missed six games this season and appears to have rolled his ankle in Wednesday's contest. While George is sidelined, Eric Gordon, Kelly Oubre and Ricky Council could see more action.

19 November 2024

Still struggling with shot

George totaled 18 points (5-13 FG, 1-7 3Pt, 7-9 FT), six rebounds, five assists and three steals over 33 minutes during Monday's 106-89 loss to the Heat.

Analysis

While his overall production was solid, George once again had trouble getting his shot to fall. In his first seven games with Philly since getting past a knee issue, the 34-year-old is shooting just 39.6 percent from the floor and 28.8 percent from beyond the arc while averaging 16.7 points, 5.6 boards, 5.1 assists, 2.4 steals and 2.1 threes. The Sixers have yet to feature their new Big Three of Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey (hamstring) and George on the court at the same time, so it could be a while before the newest member of the trio finds his comfort level.

Logs four steals Friday

George racked up 13 points (4-15 FG, 3-9 3Pt, 2-3 FT), four rebounds, five assists and four steals over 36 minutes during Friday's 98-86 loss to the Magic.

Analysis

George was responsible for four of the 76ers' 10 steals, Friday which somewhat made up for his shortcomings on offense, though he did finish as Philadelphia's third-leading scorer behind Jared McCain (29) and Joel Embiid (20). Through six regular-season games, George is averaging 16.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 5.2 assists and 2.3 steals over 30.2 minutes per game.
