Batting third in spring debut

Langford (oblique) is batting third as the designated hitter in Friday's spring game against the Rockies.

Analysis

The 23-year-old will make his first start of spring in a non-defensive capacity after missing the first couple weeks of Cactus League action due to an oblique strain. Langford now has nearly three weeks to get settled ahead of Opening Day against the Red Sox on March 27.

Slated for spring debut Friday

Langford (oblique) is expected to make his Cactus League debut Friday against the Rockies, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Analysis

Langford suffered a mild left oblique strain at the beginning of Rangers camp but has been steadily improving since then and is almost ready to test himself in a game setting. Barring any setbacks, the young outfielder will have time to get ready for Opening Day.
