Homers again in loss

Laureano went 2-for-3 with a solo home run in Sunday's 5-4 loss to the Dodgers.

Analysis

Laureano contributed to the Padres' comeback effort with his fifth-inning homer off Tyler Glasnow. The outfielder has been steady for San Diego since coming over from Baltimore at the trade deadline, batting .339 with four homers and 12 RBI over 15 games with his new team. On the year, Laureano is at a strong .298/.364/.556 slash line with 19 long balls, 58 RBI, 56 runs scored and five stolen bases through 97 contests.

Stays hot in loss

Laureano went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 3-2 loss to the Dodgers.

Analysis

Laureano opened the scoring with a homer off Clayton Kershaw in the second inning. This was Laureano's second game in a row with a homer, and he's batting .327 (16-for-49) with seven extra-base hits and 11 RBI over 13 games in August. On the year, he's at 18 homers, 57 RBI, 55 runs scored, five stolen bases and a .295/.360/.545 slash line through 95 contests between the Padres and the Orioles.

Continues to shine after trade

Laureano went 3-for-4 with a home run, a walk, three total runs and two total RBI in an 11-1 victory against the Giants on Wednesday.

Analysis

Laureano's homer in the rout was a two-run blast in the fifth inning that made the score 10-0. The veteran outfielder already has the second-most homers (17) and RBI (56) of his career through 94 games, and he could reach his respective career-best marks of 24 and 67 that he set with the A's in 2019. Laureano has been especially potent since joining San Diego at the trade deadline, slashing .333/.400/.600 with two home runs, 10 RBI, nine runs and a stolen base through 12 contests.

Logs steal Tuesday

Laureano went 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, a stolen base and two runs scored in Tuesday's 5-1 win over the Giants.

Analysis

Laureano got some rest Monday after a stretch of going just 2-for-15 across four games. He bounced back with a multi-hit effort in his return to the lineup, which also included his first steal for the Padres. On the year, the veteran outfielder is 5-for-8 on steal attempts, though he's made up for a drop in speed by having a career year as a hitter. He's batting .290 with an .882 OPS, 16 home runs, 54 RBI, 51 runs scored, 19 doubles and two triples across 93 games between the Padres and Orioles. Laureano's production has been fairly steady between the two teams, so he should continue to see a near-everyday role.
