Starting Thursday

Kemp (knee) will start at first base and bat sixth against the Marlins on Thursday, Lochlahn March of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Analysis

Knee problems kept Kemp out of Wednesday's contest, but he seems to be feeling better after a day of rest and will now rejoin the starting nine. Through his first 10 games as a major-leaguer, the 25-year-old has gone 10-for-36 (.278) with four RBI and six runs scored.

Managing knee issue

Kemp's absence from the lineup Wednesday against the Marlins is due to a knee injury, Lochlahn March of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Analysis

The 25-year-old fouled a pitch off his knee during Tuesday's contest, and the subsequent swelling will keep him out of the lineup Wednesday for the first time since being promoted June 7. Kemp has a .278 average (10-for-39) in his first 10 big-league games, though his .306 slugging percentage is less impressive as he has just one extra-base hit (a double). Alec Bohm shifted to first base Wednesday for the Phillies.

Getting first day off since call-up

Kemp is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Marlins.

Analysis

For the first time since receiving his first big-league call-up June 7, Kemp will head to the bench. The rookie has held his own at the plate through his first 10 starts in the majors, batting .278 with a walk, a stolen base, six runs and four RBI. Though he'll cede his spot in the infield to Edmundo Sosa on Wednesday, Kemp should continue to handle an everyday role until the Phillies get first baseman Bryce Harper (wrist) back from the injured list.

Delivers four hits

Kemp went 4-for-5 with three runs scored, two RBI and a stolen base in Sunday's win over Toronto.

Analysis

Kemp singled four times Sunday, including a two-run base hit in the fourth inning. He picked up his first career steal and has produced three multi-hit performances over his last six games. Kemp was one of six Phillies with multiple hits in the victory. The 25-year-old rookie is slashing .345/.387/.379 through his first 31 plate appearances.
