McCoy is absent from the lineup for Thursday's game in St. Louis, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Analysis
McCoy had made seven straight starts at shortstop as the Padres deal with the loss of Ha-Seong Kim (shoulder), but he will begin the festivities Thursday on the bench. Tyler Wade is getting the call at shortstop for San Diego and will bat ninth.

Analysis
Saturday's contest will be McCoy's third consecutive start at shortstop, seemingly supplanting Tyler Wade as the Padres' replacement for Ha-Seong Kim (shoulder). Since being called up Wednesday, McCoy is 3-for-8 with two runs and an RBI.
