Another start on tap

Enns is scheduled to start Thursday's game against the Nationals in Washington, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Analysis

The left-hander made his first MLB appearance since 2021 last Thursday against the Athletics in what was expected to be a spot start, but he'll receive another turn through the rotation after allowing just one hit across five scoreless frames. Another strong performance could keep Enns in the rotation on a longer-term basis, even with Reese Olson (finger) potentially making his return from the injured list this week.

Blanks A's in Tigers Debut

Enns (1-0) earned the win Thursday over the A's, allowing just one hit and two walks over five scoreless innings. He struck out four.

Analysis

Detroit couldn't have asked for more from Enns, who was making his first major-league appearance since 2021 and his first start since 2017. Despite his stellar effort, the 34-year-old Enns is expected to head back to Triple-A Toledo, with Reese Olson (finger) nearing a return from the IL. Enns posted a 2.89 ERA in 14 starts (62.1 innings) in Triple-A this year.

Contract selected ahead of start

The Tigers selected Enns' contract from Triple-A Toledo on Thursday, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Analysis

Enns will draw the start in Thursday's contest against the Athletics in what will be his first appearance in the majors since 2021 and first start in the big leagues since 2017. The 34-year-old earned an opportunity after collecting a 2.89 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 71:15 K:BB across 62.1 innings (14 starts) with Toledo. With Reese Olson (finger) expected back from the injured list next week, Enns could be in line for just one start with the Tigers.
