Mixed results in loss
Povich (2-6) took the loss against the Phillies on Monday, allowing four runs on four hits and one walk with seven strikeouts over 5.2 innings.
Analysis
Povich entered the sixth inning in a 3-3 tie and departed an out shy of a quality start after allowing a single to J.T. Realmuto, who went on to score the first run in what became an eight-run rally by the Phillies. On the bright side, the southpaw tossed 90 pitches in his first major-league start since June 15, generating 10 whiffs and allowing just five hard-hit balls. He'll carry a 5.25 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 75:24 K:BB across 70.1 innings into a home matchup with the Athletics this weekend.

Activated ahead of Monday's start
The Orioles activated Povich (hip) from the 15-day injured list Monday.
Analysis
Povich will start Monday's game in Philadelphia after being sidelined mid-June with hip inflammation. The left-hander got his pitch count up to 86 in his final rehab outing with Triple-A Norfolk this past Tuesday, so he should be able to handle a relatively normal workload against the Phillies.

Returning Monday
Povich (hip) will return from the injured list to start Monday's game against the Phillies, Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun reports.
Analysis
Povich landed on the injured list in mid-June with hip inflammation and made one rehab start in late June before being shut down with additional soreness. Since restarting his assignment July 13, the 25-year-old has posted a 3.38 ERA and 0.94 WHIP through 16 innings while striking out 18 batters and walking three. He built up to 86 pitches during his final start Tuesday, which could allow him to avoid workload restrictions during his first start back in the big leagues.

Builds up to 86 pitches Tuesday
Povich (hip) made a rehab start for Triple-A Norfolk on Tuesday, allowing five runs (four earned) on seven hits and no walks in 4.2 innings. He struck out three.
Analysis
While the final stat line leaves quite a bit to be desired, Povich was at least able to stretch out his pitch count to 86 on Tuesday. Provided he comes away from the outing feeling well physically, the left-hander should be just about ready to be activated from the injured list. With Trevor Rogers turning in a 1.49 ERA and 0.79 WHIP through his eight major-league starts in 2025, the Orioles could choose to option Povich to the minor leagues upon reinstating him, or perhaps put him in the bullpen depending on what they do at the trade deadline.
