Launches 29th homer

Buxton went 2-for-5 with a double, a two-run homer and an additional run scored in Sunday's 7-2 win over the Padres.

Analysis

Buxton opened the scoring in the third inning with a homer off Kyle Hart, his 29th of the season to mark a new career high. It's the fourth homer in four games for Buxton, who's gone 6-for-17 (.353) in that span. Buxton has been a bright spot in an otherwise disappointing season for the Twins -- he boosted his slash line to .271/.333/.550 with 70 RBI, 81 runs scored and 21 stolen bases across 442 plate appearances.

Homers twice Wednesday

Buxton went 2-for-5 with a pair of home runs and a third run scored in Wednesday's 9-8 loss to the Blue Jays.

Analysis

Buxton gave the Twins an early lead with a 404-foot blast off Eric Lauer to lead off the game before adding a second homer off the left-hander in the third. It's the third two-homer game for Buxton this season, though he'd been slumping prior to Wednesday, going just 3-for-27 in his previous seven contests. Overall, the 31-year-old outfielder is batting .269 with an .870 OPS, 27 homers and 19 stolen bases across 429 plate appearances this year.

Taking seat Tuesday

Buxton is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game in Toronto.

Analysis

Buxton is in the midst of a 3-for-27 slide at the plate, so he'll get a day off to regroup. James Outman will shift over to center field and Austin Martin will get a start in left field for the Twins.
