Third straight quality start
Gomber came away with a no-decision in Friday's 9-5 win over the Cubs, allowing two runs on nine hits and a walk over six innings. He struck out four.
Analysis
The southpaw produced his third straight quality start and 12th of the season, tying the career high he set in 2023, but Gomber saw his sixth win of the year slip away when the Rockies bullpen coughed up the lead in the top of the eighth inning. The 30-year-old has been sharp since the beginning of August, delivering six QS in eight trips to the mound while posting a 3.67 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 34:10 K:BB through 49 innings. Gomber will look to keep rolling in his next outing, which is scheduled to come at home next week against the Diamondbacks.

Back from paternity list
Gomber was reinstated from the paternity list Friday. He'll start Friday's game against the Cubs.
Analysis
As expected, Gomber will rejoin the team to make the start Friday. The left-hander has been impressive across his last five starts, logging a 3.00 ERA and a 1.06 WHIP with a 23:7 K:BB across 33 innings. Tanner Gordon was optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque in a corresponding move.

Lands on paternity list
The Rockies placed Gomber on the paternity list Tuesday.
Analysis
The left-hander was expected to start in the three-games series at Detroit that begins Tuesday, but he'll instead step away from the team for a few days to be with his growing family. Gomber could be back with the team -- and in the rotation -- for Friday's game versus the Cubs.
