Nursing sore hand

Rutschman is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Tigers due to right hand soreness, though he's expected to be available off the bench, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Analysis

Rutschman suffered the injury while blocking a ball behind the plate during the second game of Sunday's doubleheader, but it's not believed to be a serious issue. Gary Sanchez is starting at catcher for the series finale in Detroit.

Sitting for Game 1

Rutschman isn't in the lineup for the first game of Saturday's doubleheader against Detroit.

Analysis

Rutschman has really been struggling as of late, slashing .128/.227/.231 in 44 plate appearances over his last 10 games. He'll take a game off to begin Saturday's festivities but will likely return to the starting nine for the nightcap. In the meantime, Gary Sanchez will start behind the plate and bat eighth.
