What happens to my Essence when a new season starts?

When Sorare moves from one season's gameplay to the next, your Essence balance carries over rather than being wiped. Here's how that generally works — the exact conversion date and formula for the current transition are announced ahead of each season, so check the in-app announcement for specifics.

The general principle

Your Essence converts using a degressive formula: the larger your balance, the more it's reduced in the conversion, so the new season's Essence keeps a fair value across all Managers regardless of stockpile size.

What doesn't convert the same way

  • Essence tied to a competition that's still mid-season (for example, a league running under the previous gameplay during a transition period) is not affected — it keeps working as-is until that competition's own season ends.
  • All-Star or Global Cup Essence converts into the new season's All-Star Essence.
  • Essence tied to a competition that's discontinued (not part of the new season's structure) converts into Neutral Essence, so it doesn't go to waste.
  • Unique Essence, when Unique Essence is removed from a season's crafting and prize pools, converts into Super Rare Essence at a fixed multiplier announced for that transition. Any Unique Clues you hold convert into Super Rare Clues under the same logic.

A few things to keep in mind

  • If your converted balance would exceed a scarcity's Essence or Clue cap, you keep the full amount, but you'll need to spend some before you can earn more of that type.
  • Crafting is paused for maintenance during the conversion window. The exact duration is communicated in advance.
  • A simulator is usually made available so you can check what your own balance will convert to before the transition happens.
