November brings us into the second month of the NBA season, though of course the season began late in October so no team has played more than eight games. Still, that’s provided some intriguing data (and seemingly confirmation the Jazz are terrible). For Sorare purposes, here is my Upgrade, Hold, and Downgrade for you this week.

Upgrade

Moritz Wagner, ORL ($7.61): Paolo Banchero is out for a while, and the hype is surrounding Tristan da Silva and Anthony Black. However, Wendell Carter is also dealing with a foot issue, and he doesn’t exactly have the best history of staying healthy. Franz’s brother Moritz is not exciting, but his minutes have picked up in the wake of these two injuries and he even got a start in a game that yielded 22.0 Sorare points against Cleveland. Mo isn’t trendy. He isn’t in the zeitgeist. He can still boost your lineup, though.

Hold

Ja Morant, MEM ($37.08): Morant is a great basketball player. Through all the off-court turmoil and the injuries some may have lost sight of that. When healthy and on track, Morant is one of the 10 best players in the NBA. He might have his first 20-point, 10-assist campaign and he’s only finished under 30.0 Sorare points once this season. Yes, injuries are always a concern, but a healthy Morant is somebody to believe in. Plus, even injury-prone players have their campaigns where things break right and they get to 70 games.

Downgrade

Kyle Lowry, PHI ($7.08): Lowry had been starting for the 76ers, and that combined with the returns of Paul George and (eventually) Joel Embiid may have you excited for what’s to come. However, Lowry is 38, he moved to the bench in George’s Sixers debut, and his Sorare production has also been helped by unsustainable production from beyond the three-point line. To that you might say, “But Lowry is a good three-point shooter!” That is true, but he’s not good enough to make over half of his three-point attempts for a full season, which is what Lowry has done to this point.
