Analysis

Gasper batted out of the eight-hole as Boston's designated hitter in Sunday's season finale, his first start since Aug. 29. Gasper showcased his vaunted plate discipline in the fourth, working a seven-pitch walk after falling behind 0-2 to Rays starter Ryan Pepiot. While he won't be confused for Mickey Mantle anytime soon, Gasper could find himself in the mix at catcher behind Connor Wong in 2025 with Danny Jansen hitting free agency. The switch-hitting Gasper finishes his rookie season 0-for-18 with four walks and one hit by pitch, adding one run scored in 13 games.
