Notches 10th victory
Severino (10-6) earned the win over Boston on Monday, allowing one run on six hits and two walks while striking out five batters over seven innings.

Severino yielded just one extra-base hit (a triple) and threw 66 of 100 pitches for strikes. The veteran right-hander picked up just his second quality start over his past eight outings, with the other being a complete-game shutout of Miami on Aug. 17. Monday's victory was Severino's 10th of the campaign, marking the first time he has reached double-digit wins since he went 19-8 for the Yankees in 2018. Not coincidentally, 2024 is the first time he's logged 20 starts since that standout 2018 campaign.

Severino did not factor into the decision in a loss to Arizona on Wednesday, allowing four runs on eight hits and one walk over 4.2 innings. He struck out nine.

Severino struck out four of the first seven batters he faced before allowing Arizona's first run of the contest on an RBI single from Luis Guillorme. The right-hander was then victimized by the long ball in both the third and fourth innings and would later be relieved by Huascar Brazoban with two outs in the fifth, marking Severino's shortest outing this month. The 30-year-old veteran has now surrendered at least four runs in four of his last six starts, coughing up multiple homers in three of those outings. He'll finish the month of August with a 4.08 ERA and a solid 35:8 K:BB, going 2-2 over that stretch.
