Completes five innings, nabs win
Ohtani (1-1) earned the win over Cincinnati on Wednesday, allowing one run on two hits and two walks while striking out nine batters over five innings.
Analiz
Ohtani gave up a solo homer to Noelvi Marte in the third inning, but the Reds otherwise weren't able to do much against him. The two-way star got 14 whiffs on his 87 pitches and fanned a season-high nine batters. Of note, Ohtani threw 23 curveballs Wednesday -- per Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times, which blew away his previous career-high total of 16. It's equally important that Ohtani was allowed to finish the fifth inning -- it was the first time this season he's gone that deep, which by rule means it's the first time he was able to qualify for a victory. That's a significant development for fantasy managers, as the Japanese superstar should be able to help in that category moving forward while potentially building upon his already impressive 44:7 K:BB through 32.1 frames.

Smacks 45th homer
Ohtani went 1-for-4 with a solo home run, a walk and two total runs scored in Sunday's 8-2 win over the Padres.
Analiz
Ohtani provided some insurance with a homer in the ninth inning. After missing one game due to a bruised thigh, Ohtani had a quiet weekend series versus the Padres -- his homer Sunday was his lone hit over 11 at-bats across the last three games. He's still batting .342 (26-for-76) with seven homers and 11 RBI over 21 contests in August. For the season, he's at 45 homers, 84 RBI, 122 runs scored, 17 stolen bases and a .280/.389/.619 slash line in 128 contests.

Returning Friday
Ohtani (thigh) is serving as the designated hitter and batting out of the leadoff spot against the Padres on Friday.
Analiz
Ohtani took a comebacker to his right thigh during Wednesday's game against the Rockies, but the injury isn't severe enough for him to miss Friday's NL West series opener. Ohtani has reached base safely in all 18 games since Aug. 1, and over that span he has posted a 1.266 OPS with 20 runs, four steals, six home runs and 10 RBI in 82 plate appearances.
