The Marlins activated Fairbanks (hand) from the 15-day injured list Wednesday.

As expected, Fairbanks required only a minimum 15-day absence while recovering from medial nerve irritation in his pitching hand. The right-hander did not make any rehab appearances, but he will likely immediately be thrown back into the closer role after a relatively brief absence.

Fairbanks has been shelved for nearly two weeks of action with medial nerve irritation in his right hand. He was administered multiple injections to combat the issue, and the shots appear to have achieved the desired goal. Fairbanks should be thrown right back into the Marlins' closer role upon activation.
