Could be done for season
The Astros are bracing for the possibility of Paredes requiring season-ending surgery to address a torn right hamstring, a procedure that would keep him out for around 6-to-7 months, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.
Analiz
Houston hasn't provided official word on the extent of Paredes' right hamstring strain since he was placed on the injured list July 20, but the 26-year-old appears to have received unfavorable news after undergoing further testing. Citing a league source, Ari Alexander of KPRC 2 Houston reported Wednesday that Paredes' injury has been deemed significant enough to keep him out for two months, though his recovery timeline would be extended to next spring if surgery is necessary. Before Paredes decides whether to go under the knife, he's expected to receive a second medical opinion later this week. In anticipation of Paredes missing extended time, the Astros acquired Ramon Urias from the Orioles on Wednesday to bolster the left side of the infield.

Could require hamstring surgery
Paredes could require season-ending surgery to repair his injured right hamstring, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.
Analiz
Paredes was placed on the 10-day injured list July 20 with a strained right hamstring, with Astros manager Joe Espada calling the injury "pretty significant." The third baseman is slated to receive a second opinion before making a decision on how to treat the injury, but surgery is evidently one of the possibilities. With Paredes' status for the rest of the season in doubt, Nightengale says the Astros are mulling trades for Carlos Correa, Nolan Arenado and Eugenio Suarez. Mauricio Dubon has been serving as the team's primary third baseman since Paredes went down.

Getting second opinion on hamstring
Astros general manager Dana Brown said Sunday that Paredes' right hamstring strain is "a little bit more severe" than originally projected, and the third baseman is set to receive a second opinion within the next week, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Analiz
Paredes was placed on the injured list exactly one week ago, but other than manager Joe Espada labeling the hamstring strain as "pretty significant," the team hadn't elaborated further on the severity of the injury. Once Paredes gets a second opinion, a clearer timeline for his return could emerge, but the Astros are seemingly bracing for the 26-year-old to be sidelined well into August, if not September. Mauricio Dubon has taken over as Houston's primary option at the hot corner since Paredes landed on the IL.
