In this blog, we will be sharing all the key details: the new Beat the Game mode, prize pools, card launch date, division placement, and more. You’ll have everything you need to know!

There’s just two weeks until MLS returns – one of the most original leagues in world football! You better get ready.


MLS Cards Early Access Launch:

Mark your calendars—MLS Early Access cards are launching on Tuesday, February 11th, D-5! Get ready to put your strategies in place and build your winning lineups for the season.

The launch will include the double-up promo:

Purchase an MLS Early Access card via Auction or Instant Buy before Friday, February 21st, 4 PM CET and get:

• A 5% chance to win a second MLS card for free. The higher the quality* of the card you buy, the greater your chance of winning a higher-quality card for free.
• A 95% chance to win MLS Essence, with the amount determined by the quality* of the card purchased.

As always in those launch promotions, essence and cards rewarded will come from our market supply (not the reward supply).

*Quality is determined solely by Sorare at its discretion, based on factors like the card’s appeal to collectors and its popularity in the game at the time of purchase.

Please note that #1 serial cards will be available right from the start at launch. Jersey Mint serial cards (when the serial and jersey number match) will be released in an upcoming event. In some cases, if a player’s squad number hasn’t been officially confirmed, we may sell or reward Jersey Mint cards before that event.

MLS Division Battle: Earn Your Head Start in Division 1 

Many of you have been asking: How will teams be allocated into divisions for Limited and Rare In-Season and Classic competitions?

Brace yourselves—it’s going to be big! The first MLS Game Week (Feb 21–25) will feature an exclusive competition: MLS Division Battle.

For this first Game Week, every Limited and Rare lineup will compete in a single Division 3 leaderboard, with the entire prize pool condensed into one leaderboard instead of being split across three divisions. 

How will your teams be placed into divisions based on your Division Battle ranking?

• Top 25% → Your team jumps straight to Division 1 in the following Game Week.
• Top 25%–75% → Your team is placed in Division 2.
• Outside the top 75% → Your team remains in Division 3.

Remember, you can submit up to 3 teams—think you have what it takes to scout and prepare all 3 to go straight into Division 1?

Hot Streaks: The hotly anticipated return of a Beat the Game Mode

As previously announced, the new MLS competition will introduce the return of the exciting Beat the Game Mode for In-Season Limited and Rare scarcities. And we have more good news—Super Rare and Unique In-Season MLS cards will also have their own dedicated Beat the Game experience!

Let’s start with Limited and Rare

Here’s a quick reminder of how it works:

• Lineups with 5 In-Season MLS cards will compete for leaderboard prize pools and also unlock the chance to earn additional cash rewards* through the Beat the Game mode. That means two ways to win rewards—by climbing the leaderboard and by hitting a points target.
  
• Lineups with 4 In-Season cards and 1 Classic card will still compete for leaderboard prizes, including Cash, Essence, and XP, but won’t be eligible for the Beat the Game mode.

*rewards may be awarded in cash or in ETH

In terms of interface and Manager experience, this Beat the Game mode will be integrated into a brand-new lobby feature: Missions. Complete the mission, and claim your reward.

MLS Hot Streaks will be the first season-long Mission available in your lobby, making everything crystal clear: 

1. You can enter a team in the MLS In-Season Competition (min. 4 In-Season cards) to compete for leaderboard prizes.
   
2. Meanwhile, in the lobby, you’ll see this season-long mission for Limited and Rare: If any of your MLS In-Season teams include 5 In-Season cards and reach the required points target, you’ll earn the associated cash reward. 

You have multiple chances to hit the target thanks to your different teams, but you can only claim the reward once per scarcity (Limited or Rare) each Game Week. This reward is on top of your leaderboard winnings!

Chase the streak for increased rewards

Here’s where it gets even more exciting: your target points and rewards can increase each Game Week.

There are 5 target levels, each associated with a fixed cash reward. Each time you hit a level, you move to the next Hot Streak target. The next Game Week will challenge you with the next level: a higher target—but also bigger cash rewards.

Keep hitting the target, and you’ll keep climbing. If you reach the top Streak level, you’ll earn the highest massive reward. After that, your streak will reset, allowing you to start over and climb the levels again.  

Miss the target in a Game Week? No worries—you’ll restart at Level 1 and have another shot at the Streak. If you skip a Game Week when MLS is open and you don’t submit a lineup, your Streak will also reset to Level 1.

Here’s a breakdown of the different Levels and rewards for the Limited and Rare streaks:

Please note that the indicated Market Credits provide a 50% discount up to the specified amount and will be valid for 14 days.

The Super Rare & Unique Golden Goal 

Managers competing in the In-Season MLS Super Rare and Unique competitions with 5 In-Season cards lineups will also have their own Beat the Game mode:

The Golden Goal

The concept is simple: a set points target must be hit to claim the pot. If no one reaches it in a given Game Week, the pot increases for the next one—building up until one Manager hits the target and claims the prize! If several Managers hit the target score in the same Game Week, they will split the pot. Once won, the pot resets and the cycle begins again.

Super Rare

• The initial pot starts at $500 in MLS GW 1.
• The target score to hit is 600 points (including all card bonuses, such as the 20% Super Rare scarcity bonus).
• If no one hits the target, the pot increases by $500 each Game Week.
• Once won, the pot resets to $500 and starts building again with the same target score remaining at 600 points.

Unique

• The initial pot starts at $750 in MLS GW 1.
• The target score to hit is 650 points (including all bonuses, such as the 40% Unique scarcity bonus).
• If no one hits the target, the pot increases by $750 each Game Week.
• Once won, the pot resets to $750 and the cycle continues with the same target score remaining at 650 points.

Will you be the one to hit the Golden Goal? 

Turning up the heat all season long! 🔥

The Hot Streak and Golden Goal will already be active for the first MLS Division Battle Game Week and will run all season long. Targets and rewards are locked until July. Any adjustments, if needed, would be made ahead of the August gameplay update and communicated with ample notice.

The MLS Prize Pools

To help you plan your strategies and scouting, you can now check all the MLS Prize Pools—In-Season & Classic—across all scarcities HERE.

The prize pools follow the same principles outlined in our latest Gameplay Update for other core competitions:

• No more double rewards
• Essence rewarded directly in the leaderboard
• New XP rewards

Additionally, the MLS Classic Prize Pools will see a key change: only T0 and T1 cards will be rewarded, while lower-tier cards will be replaced by Essence in the leaderboard. This means Managers have more control. They can choose to accumulate Essence and work toward higher-tier rewards or use it earlier to craft T5+ or T4+ cards.

Please note that MLS Classic Competitions will not reward cash prizes for Division 1 podium placements, MLS cash rewards can be won in In-Season competitions (MLS 2025). This applies only to the newly introduced MLS Classic Competition and does not affect other Classic competitions.

Get Ready for a Red Hot MLS Season

As we move forward, we want to give our community a heads-up: we’re exploring potential improvements to the scoring matrix as part of next August’s planned gameplay update. Our goal is to further enhance Sorare’s already strong scoring system, making it even more accurate in capturing a player’s real-life impact on the game. We’re eager to hear your feedback on how we can achieve that. Rest assured, we’ll give you plenty of notice about any changes. Since these updates would affect MLS and Asian leagues in the second half of their season, we wanted to share this with the community now.
