Double-double against Cavs

Turner accumulated 15 points (5-10 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 3-5 FT), 10 rebounds and one assist over 29 minutes during Sunday's 108-93 victory over Cleveland.

Analysis

It was the veteran center's first double-double in January and his seventh of the season. Turner is averaging 15.4 points, 6.8 boards, 2.2 blocks, 1.8 threes, 1.4 assists and 1.2 steals through five appearances on the month while shooting 50.0 percent from the floor, and his 2.1 rejections per game on the season put him fourth in the NBA behind Victor Wembanyama, Walker Kessler and Anthony Davis.

Good to go Friday

Turner (illness) will play in Friday's game against the Warriors, Alex Golden of the 'Setting the Pace' podcast reports.

Analysis

Turner will return to action after missing Wednesday's win over the Bulls due to an illness. The big man has averaged 16.0 points, 6.4 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.8 blocks and 1.0 steals in 31.8 minutes per contest over his last five outings. There's no indication that Turner will operate under a minutes restriction after missing only one game, meaning Thomas Bryant should reprise his normal role off the bench after his spot start on Wednesday.

Questionable for Friday

Turner (illness) is questionable to play in Friday's game against the Warriors.

Analysis

Turner missed Wednesday's matchup with the Bulls due to an illness and is in danger of missing a second consecutive game (and fourth overall this season). If Turner is unable to play, expect Thomas Bryant, who dropped a season-high 22 points and eight rebounds over 28 minutes, to start again in his place.

Won't play Wednesday

Turner (illness) will not appear in Wednesday's contest against Chicago, Tony East of WTHR Channel 13 Indianapolis reports.

Analysis

This will be Turner's third missed game all season, as he has been an integral piece to the Pacers' starting lineup, averaging 15.1 points, 7.0 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 2.1 blocks and 0.8 steals over 31.3 minutes thus far. Thomas Bryant is expected to take Turner's place in the starting lineup until he returns.

January 8, 2025

Uncertain to play Wednesday

Turner is questionable for Wednesday's game against the Bulls due to an illness.

Analysis

Turner was a late addition to the injury report after presumably waking up feeling under the weather. The center hasn't missed a game since Nov. 18 and has been remarkably durable this campaign. If he's unable to go, the Pacers could turn to Obi Toppin, Jarace Walker and Thomas Bryant to take on extra minutes out of the frontcourt.

Strong defensive performance

Turner amassed 10 points (4-7 FG, 2-4 3Pt), five rebounds, one assist, three blocks and three steals across 31 minutes during Monday's 113-99 victory over the Nets.

Analysis

Turner continues to show why he can be a defensive force for the Pacers. The veteran big man may be seeing a dip in his offensive production, averaging two fewer points per game (15.1) in more time on the floor this season (31.3). However, he is still one of the elite shot blockers in the NBA, averaging 2.1 per game, fourth in the league behind Anthony Davis (2.2), Walker Kessler (2.5) and Victor Wembanyama (4.0).
