Hits for 20 points off bench
Monk finished with 20 points (7-14 FG, 6-9 3Pt), one rebound, three assists, two blocks and two steals in 21 minutes during Friday's 105-104 win over the Jazz.
Analysis
It's too soon to tell, but Monk may be developing into the true sixth man for the Kings. Monk is deserving of a starting role on paper, but the frontcourt is the only place where there is an opening, and he's not a fit there. That spot will eventually be filled by Keegan Murray, which will solidify a starting five that Monk won't be a part of. Despite the apparent demotion, he's off to a great start and still has some fantasy value.

Logs 19 points off the bench
Monk ended Wednesday's 120-116 loss to Phoenix with 19 points (7-13 FG, 3-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT), one rebound and two assists across 27 minutes.
Analysis
Monk's fantasy prospects became cloudy after the Kings acquired Dennis Schroder, and things became even murkier with the recent addition of Russell Westbrook. Despite the competition, Monk found success with the second unit Wednesday. The team's confidence in Monk is not surprising, given that he logged a career-high campaign last season, and his results in the opener increase his probability of fantasy success as the season progresses.

Off injury report for Wednesday
Monk (illness) isn't listed on the Kings' injury report for Wednesday's game against the Suns.
Analysis
Monk will return to action in the Kings' regular-season opener after missing the team's final two preseason games due to illness. The 27-year-old guard is coming off a career-best year in 2024-25, during which he averaged 17.2 points, 5.6 assists and 3.8 rebounds in 31.6 minutes per game across 65 regular-season appearances (45 starts).
