Without timetable for return
Coach Doc Rivers said that Porter (oblique) won't play "any time soon," and he's without an official timetable to return, Justin Garcia of Locked On Bucks reports.
Analysis
It appears that Porter is looking at a multi-game absence with this oblique injury, which should open up some minutes for Gary Trent, Gary Harris and Cole Anthony. Porter offers too much upside to cut in most formats, and he may become eligible for an IL slot in leagues that include them.

Ruled out with oblique strain
Porter (oblique) is out for Wednesday's game against the Thunder.
Analysis
Porter needs to miss at least one contest to tend to an oblique strain. The combo guard's absence vacates plenty of minutes in the Milwaukee backcourt, with names like Gary Trent, Gary Harris and Cole Anthony being the most likely candidates for increased playing time.

Managing oblique strain
Porter is questionable for Wednesday's game versus the Thunder due to an oblique strain.
Analysis
The Bucks should have a better idea regarding Porter's status based on his activity level at Wednesday's shootaround, but if he ends up being sidelined against Oklahoma City, Ryan Rollins could see elevated minutes as Milwaukee's clear top point guard. Porter moved to the bench for the Bucks' most recent game Monday, when he finished with nine points, seven assists, six rebounds, one steal and one block in 28 minutes in a 112-110 win over the Hawks.

Moves to bench Monday
Porter won't start Monday's game against the Hawks.
Analysis
Since returning to action against Brooklyn on Nov. 29, Porter had started 21 straight games, but he's been replaced by Kyle Kuzma in the first five Monday. Porter is coming off his first scoreless outing of the season, which snapped an eight-game streak of double-digit scoring. During that stretch, Porter averaged 16.1 points, 8.3 assists, 5.1 rebounds and 2.0 steals in 37.4 minutes per game.

Goes scoreless in loss to Spurs
Porter recorded zero points (0-9 FG, 0-4 3Pt), one rebound and two assists in 23 minutes during Thursday's 119-101 loss to San Antonio.
Analysis
Porter went scoreless for the first time this season and just the sixth time in his career in Thursday's loss to the Spurs. The sixth-year guard is now one of only two players this season to attempt at least nine shots from the field without recording a bucket. Despite the poor night, the 25-year-old has still been productive over seven outings in January, averaging 13.6 points, 7.4 assists, 4.4 rebounds and 2.0 steals across 35 minutes per game.
