Impressive double-double
Towns posted 36 points (8-15 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 17-18 FT), 16 rebounds and an assist across 30 minutes in Saturday's 128-125 win over the Hawks.
Analysis
Towns had a dominant performance on offense but was also outstanding on the glass, as he ended just two boards shy of tying his season-high output in that category. The star big man also bounced back from the 11-point dud he posted on Christmas Day against the Cavaliers, and this was the third time he notched at least 35 points in a game since the beginning of December. Jalen Brunson remains the Knicks' go-to player on offense, but Towns is an excellent No. 2 option who can take over a game on any given matchup.

Double-double in Christmas win
Towns contributed 11 points (5-13 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 1-2 FT), 14 rebounds, one assist and two steals across 27 minutes during Thursday's 126-124 victory over the Cavaliers.
Analysis
The double-double was his 20th of the season. Towns' production has been erratic in December, perhaps due to nagging lower-body injuries that have cost him two of the Knicks' 11 games this month. When he's been on the court, the veteran center has averaged 22.2 points, 11.3 boards, 2.1 assists, 1.8 threes and 1.1 steals, but he pulled down double-digit rebounds in only five of those nine contests -- something he accomplished in 17 of his first 19 appearances in 2025-26.

Shines in return to Minnesota
Towns logged 40 points (14-24 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 9-11 FT), 13 rebounds, one assist and one steal over 35 minutes during the Knicks' 115-104 loss to the Timberwolves on Tuesday.
Analysis
It was Towns' second game in Minnesota since being traded by the Timberwolves to the Knicks in October 2024. The superstar big man put on a show in his return to Target Center, carrying the Knicks' offense in the absence of Jalen Brunson (ankle). Towns finished with a season-high 40 points, though it wasn't enough for New York to come away with the road win. It was his 19th double-double of the season, which ranks third most in the NBA behind Nikola Jokic (26) and Jalen Johnson (20). Towns has averaged 23.6 points on 54.6 percent shooting along with 11.0 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 2.0 threes and 1.0 steals over 32.7 minutes per game since Dec. 2.
