Caps off season with 18 points
Small (thigh) ended with 18 points (7-19 FG, 2-10 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three rebounds, two steals and one assist across 26 minutes during Sunday's 132-101 loss to the Rockets.
Analysis
Small, who signed a two-year, two-way contract with Memphis last summer after going undrafted out of West Virginia, helped pick up the slack for the depleted Grizzlies down the stretch. The guard had missed the Grizzlies' previous four games due to a left thigh contusion but shed the injury tag ahead of the season finale. Overall, Small averaged 9.7 points, 3.7 assists, 3.1 rebounds and 1.5 three-pointers in 20.2 minutes per game while shooting 46.5 percent from the field over his 41 appearances for Memphis. Despite acquitting himself well when he was available, Small could face an uphill battle to earn a consistent role on a healthier Grizzlies club in 2026-27.

Cleared to play Sunday
Small (thigh) is available for Sunday's game against the Rockets.
Analysis
Small missed three straight games due to a left thigh contusion before being cleared to return against the Jazz on Friday. He didn't end up playing against Utah, though Adama Bal (ankle) will hit the inactive list Sunday, so Small could return to the rotation and see significant minutes for the shorthanded Grizzlies.

Likely to suit up Sunday
Small (thigh) is listed as probable for Sunday's game against the Rockets.
Analysis
Small was made available ahead of Friday's loss to Utah following a three-game stint on the inactive list, though he didn't see the floor. The rookie second-rounder is likely to suit up for Sunday's regular-season finale and could see increased playing time if Walter Clayton (hip) or Adama Bal (ankle) is ruled out.

Will play Friday
Small (thigh) is available for Friday's game against the Jazz.
Analysis
Small will shed his questionable tag and return from a three-game absence due to a left thigh contusion. The Grizzlies will be very shorthanded, so the rookie second-rounder is expected to see significant burn. He has started each of his last seven appearances, during which he has averaged 12.1 points, 3.9 assists, 3.7 rebounds and 1.0 steals in 25.3 minutes per showing.

Questionable for Friday
Small (thigh) is listed as questionable for Friday's game against the Jazz.
Analysis
Small is in jeopardy of missing a fourth straight game due to a left thigh contusion. Adama Bal, Lucas Williamson and Jahmai Mashack would be candidates for increased burn if Small is ruled out.

Out again Wednesday
Small (thigh) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game in Denver.
Analysis
This will be Small's third consecutive game on the inactive list, and it's not encouraging that he continues to get ruled out a day in advance of tipoff. For now, he should be considered highly questionable for Friday's game in Utah.
